This structure has a very good effect, reaching the best warmth retention, breathability and comfort in the 2-12 degree temperature range pursued by dhb. I find that the underarm panel is particularly useful in preventing overheating: it does not need much weather protection here, it is an area of ​​the body that generates a lot of heat. I will never understand that jackets and sweatshirts that do not use lighter fabrics here.

The blend of fabrics is also suitable for bicycles. The jacket is cut short at the front and short at the back, with excellent silicone grips to ensure that everything is in a riding position.

The length of the sleeves is good for protecting the arms that stretch out on the hood, and the laser-cut soft cuffs score high in comfort, practicality and style. The fabric is flexible enough to ensure that the jacket moves with you when changing positions. Although it fits well, it has enough space to add extra layers on cold days.

The looseness of this jacket also means that in particularly cold conditions, it is easy to slip a lightweight, foldable layer on top. A few times I did this with my ashmei Emergency Jacket; it was enough to prevent me from needing a thicker soft shell in freezing conditions.

The collar is high enough to keep out the cold, if you want, you can wear the buff on your body, and the sturdy YKK zipper can be used to further regulate the temperature if you start to warm up.

At the back you will find a standard three-pocket setup, all of which are the right size to hold everything I need for a four-hour ride. There is also a valuables pocket with a zipper on the hip. I can put my iPhone X in it, but you may come across some larger models. However, I don’t think manufacturers can reasonably expect manufacturers to buy "phablet phones", and obviously mobile phones will start to become smaller anyway...

The top of the pocket and the two outer lower corners have reflective trims, and there are reflective chevrons on the lower arms to help the sides are visible. Since this jacket is designed to be worn in situations where there may be insufficient light, it is nice to see dhb working hard to improve visibility.

Like dhb, All Winter Softshell is reasonably priced, but competition does exist—both internal and external to the brand. dhb's Classic Thermal Softshell is cheaper, 85 pounds, but lighter, and Rapha's Core Winter Jacket is also 110 pounds (a drop of 10 pounds since David's test in 2017).

All in all, this is a beautifully priced winter jacket that balances all the needs of cyclists outside of summer — warmth, breathability, flexibility, visibility, and yes, style — to create a multifunctional bag.
